Nominations for the 2019 National Indigenous Music Awards have been announced

The 16th year of the National Indigenous Music Awards will celebrate some of the very best music released by Indigenous Australians in 2019. The night will feature guest performances and six award categories that honour a total of 20 nominees.

Every year since its inception, the National Indigenous Music Awards have been growing in scale and notoriety. This year’s event will be another reminder of how Indigenous music is on the rise in mainstream Australia.

2019 will be the 16th year of the National Indigenous Music Awards, not only an important night for the Indigenous music scene, but also for Australia’s.

The NIMAs will be held at The Amphitheatre in Darwin on August 10. Today the nominees have been revealed, including the likes of Baker Boy, Briggs, Mojo Juju, Tia Gostelow, and many more.

Jessica Mauboy will be one of the performers on the night, alongside Dan Sultan, Electric Fields and more. No doubt, this is a huge vote of confidence for the NIMAs as not only a big night for Indigenous music, but Australian music as a whole.
