Oxjam are holding their Gigs For Good event at the Gaso on the 21st! Take a peep at the glorious line-up

So in case you haven’t heard the legends over at Oxfam have had a stroke of genius in their ‘Oxjam’ initiative.

Oxfam Oxjam

For Oxjam, the month of August is turned into one long festival as every-day music lovers organise live music line-ups in their backyards, parks or wherever they can think of, with the mantra ‘Gigs For Good’ in mind. Now that’s a mantra we at Happy can get behind.

There are a few official gigs to kick the month off, including one run by the good time experts I Oh You at Howler on the 5th headlined by rock n’ rollers The Peep Tempel.

But one gig has really grabbed our attention. On the 21st of August at The Gasometer Hotel in Collingwood, one music lover is putting on a show overflowing with local talent. Featuring the brash but entrancing Heads of Charm, who call to mind bands like Fugazi and Future of the Left, the hypnotically melodic Neighbourhood Youth.

The boundary pushing Darts who recently just got back from playing the revered Canadian Music Week after releasing one of the best records of 2015, and The Sinking Teeth, who will be headlining/destroying the stage before they release their highly anticipated debut album, and start destroying the worlds stages with their engaging brand of punk that touches us in all the right places.

So, be sure to get down and have a good time for a good cause while catching some of Australia’s best talent, before they’re too big for a legendary venue like the Gaso. If there’s a community that gets together when it’s needed, we know it’s this one.
