For years, music fans have been obsessed with the stories behind some of the world’s most iconic musical couples. From Sonny and Cher to Kurt and Courtney, we have lapped up all the power-couple gossip.
Now, fans are getting excited to delve deep into the private life of heavy metal’s favourite power couple: Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
It has been confirmed by Jack Osbourne that a biopic which focuses on the relationship of Ozzy and Sharon is in development.
The Prince of Darkness and his princess are no strangers to the spotlight. The couple and their family starred in The Osbournes, a reality television series which aired on MTV between 2002 and 2005, one of the most-viewed series that MTV has ever had. However, rather than the dramatised domestic life of the Osbourne family, the new biopic is set to focus on Ozzy’s early career and relationship with Sharon. And since Ozzy doesn’t strike anyone as particularly romantic, it will be interesting to see how the controversial artist landed Sharon in the first place. Ozzy must be doing something right though, since the couple have been happily married since 1982, a rarity when it comes to relationships struck by the blessing and curse that is fame.
Ozzy and Sharon’s son Jack made an appearance on The Jasta Show, where he opened up about the film’s development:
“There is absolutely things in motion right now to make that a reality. I think in the next few months, you’ll probably see something coming up about it. But we haven’t landed [at a studio] yet. So, fingers crossed.”
A potential biopic was initially teased last year when Sharon stated that she was developing a film about her relationship and life with Ozzy herself, where she promised to deliver more than just another “rock and roll” movie.
“I don’t want to do another rock and roll, sex, drugs and money movie about a musician. “That’s not what I’m doing. There hasn’t been a movie about a woman that actually works on the management side — that’s a true story — and somebody that succeeds through the struggle and you come out the other side.”
Sharon then confirmed in January that the film was her biggest goal for 2020. Here’s to hoping there’s more news on this one soon.
