‘Pandemonium’ to hit Aussie shores with inaugural festival featuring Blondie, Dead Kennedys and more

Pandemonium Rocks is (potentially) set to host the long-awaited Australian returns of Blondie, Dead Kennedys and more.

A new rock festival is poised to hit Australian shores for its inaugural edition this year, with a stellar lineup including Deep Purple, Blondie, Dead Kennedys and many more.

The festival, reportedly dubbed Pandemonium Rocks, has been teased on social media by One World Entertainment promoter Andrew McManus.

According to the Instagram posts, the touring event will take to venues in Melbourne, Sydney, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast in April of 2024.

The website for Pandemonium Rocks is currently under construction, but McManus shared some hints as to who might feature on the debut bill with lyrics from songs by Alice Cooper, Placebo, Wheatus, Gang Of Four and The Psychedelic Furs, as well as Deep Purple and Blondie.

While McManus’ posts remain unconfirmed, Oz Concert News reports that the official announcement of Pandemonium Rocks, as well as its full lineup, will arrive on January 17.

As a concert promoter, McManus has been responsible for bringing iconic rock acts like KISS, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe and Fleetwood Mac to Australian audiences, and has overseen the Aussie edition of the Smashing Pumpkins-curated festival The World is a Vampire

If confirmed, Pandemonium Rocks will mark somewhat of a return for rock events in Australia, with many of the prospective lineup entrants visiting the country for the first time in many years.

Deep Purple and Wheatus haven’t headed Down Under in a decade, while Blondie, Placebo and Gang of Four’s Australian tours were all over five years ago.

For his part, Alice Cooper’s last Australian visit took place in February of 2020. It seems the lineup for the inaugural Pandemonium Rocks will only continue to grow, with McManus today (January 4) sharing an Instagram story soundtracked by Australian punk band, Cosmic Psychos.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait for further news ahead of Pandemonium Rocks’ official lineup announcement on January 16.
