PREMIERE: Pot Plant House Party’s self-titled EP is a soundtrack for breaking stuff

A mighty mighty grunge act hailing from Perth, today Pot Plant House Party preview an absolute blinder of a debut EP.

The self-titled Pot Plant House Party is bursting at the seams with voltage and groove. If sound was capable of starting fires, this is the music I’d choose to raze a city.

Pot Plant House Party’s scintillating self-titled debut is music to snarl to, a grungy monster brought forth from the depths of Perth’s live circuit.

Halfway into the EP’s intro track, Pot Plant House Party takes off and without ever falling back to ground. Meaty riffs, scorching vocals and some chunky-ass bass tones keep the energy high and dry, never relenting in its deafening assault.

You could almost call this an album, to be honest. Six full-length tracks await, so don’t dip your toes unless you’re ready for a good half hour of madness.

Ongoing highlights include the visceral, lovesick desperation of Junkie, the aggressive use of fuzz on Don’t Ya, and the breakdown exploding out of the final moments of Losing Friends. This ain’t one for the faint of heart.

There’s that famous Maxwell ad with the guy in a suit getting blasted by speakers, right? His tie flying back? That’s you, listening to this EP for the first time. It’ll blow you away – maybe even literally.

If you prefer your rock ‘n’ roll so close you can taste it, Pot Plant House Party are launching their EP next Friday, April 20th at Perth’s Indi Bar. They’ll be joined by Sly Withers, Dead Sea and Sara Salt.

Tickets will set you back $10 on the door. Grab all the details on the Facebook event.
