Matt Healy of The 1975 was spotted chowing down on a chunk of raw meat, offering fans more than just food for thought.
The 1975 frontman, Matt Healy has been caught eating a raw slab of meat at a recent stop on the band’s current At Their Very Best Tour. Footage of the incident — which took place at the band’s concert at Madison Square Garden on Monday (November 7) — sees Healy appear shirtless onstage while devouring what appears to be a beef chop, leaving fans equal parts confused and hungry.
Elsewhere in the clips, the frontman can be seen gyrating and touching his crotch, all with a deadpan expression on his face. Healy’s onstage snack was sandwiched (pun intended) between songs, and formed part of the band’s broader setlist which mostly lifted tracks from their 2022 album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that Healy’s mother, Denise Welch, was present for his meat-eating stunt.

The show marks The 1975’s very first stop on their world tour, which will next year take the band to shows across Europe and Australia. Healy was given the meat slab by a man in a white coat, who presented the feast on a platter, after which he consumed at least three sizable bites. After doing a round of pushups, fans took the performance as commentary on masculinity, given Healy’s exploration of the topic in recent years.

“Sorry if you brought your Dad to the show and I was touching my dick,” Healy reportedly said to crowds after the stunt, “that’s your fault for bringing your Dad.” It marks just one of Healy’s headline-grabbing maneuvers of late, following his recent call-out of triple j radio station. “You don’t have a monopoly on cool and the head of your company is a knobhead,” Healy wrote in response to the station’s promotion of The 1975 tour, “so yous can fuck off.”
