The first full trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been released

Star Wars fans have finally been given some small amount of content to scratch their never satisfied itch. Disney has released the first full trailer for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker at the latest D23 expo.

Not all is well though. The first half of the clip is a recap of past instalments, like we hadn’t seen those already. Around the minute mark, we start to see some fresh footage from the upcoming film. We’re greeted with some pretty stunning shots of our main heroes standing over a new (or possibly old?) desert planet. We see an ominous shot of Kylo Ren, this trilogy’s homage to Darth Vader, approaching and engaging with our hero Rey in what is sure to be an epic closing duel to the pair’s ongoing rivalry.

The first trailer for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is here and it’s all about building hype without giving too much away.

The new trailer throws some absolute curve balls our way. The closing shot of the trailer shows Rey, our salt-of-the-earth hero, donning a black robe and a ruby red, double hilted light-saber! Massive!

It’s interesting seeing just how much director JJ Abrams is revealing to audiences this time around. The plot of 2015’s The Force Awakens was kept entirely under lock and key until the film’s release.

This new trailer comes amidst some other exciting Star Wars related news. A trailer for upcoming Disney+ series The Mandalorian has given us hope that the streaming platform might be the next great hope for the franchise. Along with that, it has been announced that Ewan McGregor will be returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a series on the aforementioned platform.

All in all, we are left with very mixed feelings about how this final chapter is gonna go down.
