Historically, Vikings weren’t exactly famous for being sensitive. But in the upcoming AAA blockbuster, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, gamers will be able to see a softer side to these marauding invaders with the addition of a cat to the crew.
So while the main item on your agenda as Eivor—the Viking leader—is to conquer the hostile territory of Middle Ages England, you can indeed recruit a cat for your longboat. Turns out that even the most fearsome warlords benefit from a little furry friend.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the biggest releases of the year. In a new twist in this seafaring Viking tale, you can bring a cat along for the ride.
While slashing, burning, looting and eventually settling a new land is still the name of the game, the addition of animal companionship adds a new dimension to the protagonist’s personality.
In an interview with Games Radar, game director Eric Baptizat said “Yes, you can recruit the cat from Norwich […] we always have a lot of fun with animals, and human relationships with animals.”
