BASSINTHEGRASS announces huge 2024 line-up, featuring Macklemore, Aussie legends Jet, Bag Raiders and more

The Northern Territory’s biggest music festival BASSINTHERGRASS prepares for a wild twenty-first with a killer lineup.

The 2024 line-up for BASSINTHEGRASS has been revealed, with twenty-two homegrown and international acts set to take the stage at Darwin’s Mindil Beach this coming May.

The Northern Territory’s biggest and longest-running music festival will be head-lined by Macklemore, who played the NRL Grand Final in 2017, and whose global hit “Thrift Shop” took the top spot in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2012.

bag raiders

The Seattle rap superstar will be joined by  garage-rock legends Jet, who were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame on Wednesday, and electronic duo Bag Raiders, whose unforgettable “Shooting Stars” has proved one of the most enduring records in synth-pop.

Returning to the pristine shores of Mindil Beach will be indie rockers The Jungle Giants, having last made the journey from Brisbane to BASS in 2021. “It’s one of my fav festivals to play,” says frontman Sam Hales; “The line-up is always huge, and Darwin goes its own special kind of wild. Will most likely be staying for a writing trip somewhere in the desert”.

VASSY

Also primed to get the crowd moving are VASSY, and Bliss N Eso, who previously appeared on BASSINTHEGRASS line-up in 2009 and 2016. The trio performed at the thirty-seventh annual ARIA Awards this week to celebrate fifty years of hip-hop, having been an established act for twenty. They will be joined by rap collective The 046 in taking Sydney hip-hop to the top end.

Mashd N Kutcher, What So Not, Young Franco, Sunshine and Disco Faith Choir, Sam Divine, Walker & Royce, Kinder, and Mood Swing & Chevy Bass constitute the litany of DJs and producers in the line-up, sure to embed the proverbial bass in the grass and rumble nearby structures.

From folk to heavy metal, the guitars will be brought out by Northlane, Coterie, Ziggy Alberts, and newcomer Lotte Gallagher, who was a finalist in this year’s Triple J Unearthed High and earned high broadcast rotation with her song “Adam”.

Representing the Northern Territory will be “Yolŋu surf-rock” outfit King Stingray, immensely successful vocalist/producer Vassy, and rising Marranungu rap star J-MILLA; some of Darwin’s finest local talents.
