Jack White (aka the man single-handedly saving vinyl in North America) has today announced his upcoming solo album Boarding House Reach, along with two singles Connected By Love and Respect Commander.
The last communication we had from White in 2017 was that the new record was “practically done” and that it was “a bizarre one”. After spinning the new releases, we’re 100 percent certain he was speaking truth on both fronts.
Been hanging out for news of Jack White’s new LP? Wait no more, with the two warped lead singles premiering today.
Connected By Love is edging into ballad territory, yet avoiding any cheesiness by means of a dirty, dirty, warbling synth bassline. The clip is a total mindfuck, a hypnogogic acid trip which peaks with the song’s crescendo.
Meanwhile, Respect Commander is the absolute business. Completely whacked out from a structural standpoint, it’s clear White went a little experimental on this one… not that we mind.
Get your ears around both new tracks below.
Boarding House Reach was recorded in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville after White spent an indeterminate amount of time locked in an apartment with a tape recorder.
A release date has yet to be locked in, but when one is Boarding House Reach will distribute through Third Man Records and Columbia.
