“Luke Station’s ‘Settle Down’: A Soulful Pop Delight Unleashed in Energetic Third Single

Sydney’s multi-instrumentalist Luke Station dazzles with soulful pop in his vibrant third single, ‘Settle Down’.

As the independent Sydney musician Luke Station gears up to celebrate the release of his hip new single on July 27 at The Vanguard, Newtown attendee’s can expect anything but settling down. The vibrant event will feature support acts from Jordyn Richards and Monico, promising an electrifying night of soulful pop revelry.

As his third single, coming after 2020’s ska-tinged ‘Rocking & Rolling’ and 2016’s one-man hip hop a cappella number ‘Brand New Sound’, ‘Settle Down’ brings a deep beat with lyrical heat fuelled by themes of love and commitment.

The infectious track is grounded by a bass-heavy electronic drum rhythm that ebbs and flows under Station’s sharply funky electric guitar, electric piano, and smooth harmony vocals. He delivers a tasty keyboard solo in the middle of the track, which will no doubt make for an exciting feature at the single launch. The song reaches its abrupt end with a neat drum fill after four minutes.

Station’s love of funk, reggae, jazz and pop is reflected through his an array of genres which are heard in his own songs. He’s now regarded as an artist in constant motion from stages to studios and back, hungry to expand and evolve upon his sound. Station’s YouTube channel features everything from footage of studio recording, official tracks, ringtone covers, and his remixes of friends in funny situations, (such as yelling at cars).

When he’s not working on his own tunes, Station is a member of pop/rock cover band The Soniks, and R&B group Project Red, with which he plays keys, and belts out soulful lyrics while playing bass, respectively. Station also accompanies other artists like fellow-Sonik Clayton Vetter, and Alexie Pigot, while performing solo gigs.

Another notable feature of Station’s career thus-far is his reputation as a one-man band, recording and layering every instrument himself. In order to see how Station will be performing the full-band mix of ‘Settle Down’ at The Vanguard, one will just have to attend to find out.
