Spitfire launches Discover: a top-quality, yet affordable sample library

Spitfire Audio has recently released BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover, an affordable version of its high-quality orchestral sample library at a fraction of the cost.

Discover offers 35 instruments and 47 playing techniques recorded by the BBC Symphony Orchestra in an easy-to-use plug-in and at a file size of only 200MB.Discover

Discover is an affordable and easy-to-use version of Spitfire’s BBC Symphony Orchestra library with the same high-quality of the core and professional versions.

Spitfire describes the VST as “an inspiring gateway into orchestral composition, featuring the same professional recording quality as both the Core and Professional editions”.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, however, so it’s apt to point out that Discover is different from the Core and Professional versions of the library, lacking a handful of instruments and options for articulations. But this is in keeping with Spitfire Audio’s aim for Discover to provide users with a means to write “instantly great-sounding orchestral music”.

Whereas the Core and Professional editions of the library are priced at $449 and $999 respectively, Discover is available for $49. You can even get Discover for free by signing up with Spitfire Audio and filling out their questionnaire (you do have to wait 14 days to receive the software if you use this option).

The plugin also comes with a Mode Switching feature that allows users to collaborate with those who own the Core and Professional versions of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and is compatible with all major DAWs.

More detailed information can be found on Spitfire Audio’s website.
