Spookyland at BIGSOUND

Bigsound is recognised as Australia’s biggest music industry event – literally hundreds of musicians, industry and music fans alike flock to Fortitude Valley in Brisbane for the multi-day festival/conference/piss up, held from the 10th to the 12th of September. But you, the discerning Happy reader already knew all this, right?

The reason for reminding you is that our old mate Spookyland, who recently debuted their live performance at Happy’s most recent official gig, is heading up to Brisvegas to play alongside… basically every musician from The Margaret to the Murrumbidgee.

Our friend Spookyland has just been added to the massive Bigsound 2014 lineup.

Closer to today’s date however, the Spookyland live show is set to hit the road this August, the apocalyptic crooner venturing first down to Melbourne before their Brisbane jaunt. Right here at home, August 14th will see them join fellow Sydney natives Gang Of Youths on stage at the Oxford Art Factory, while Saturday, August 16th will see the same lineup down south at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club.

The lineup will also be bolstered by the ever amazing Black Zeros up here and the formidable Trotskies down in Melbourne. We say this a lot (especially when we were doing that whole live zine thing) but this is one of the best lineups I’ve seen on a local bill in a while.

Following both the EP and the singles’ warm US reception, Spooks is also about to start releasing his stuff with Canvasback Music for the US release of Rock and Roll Weakling. Spookyland’s debut EP Rock and Roll Weakling is available now from the Monday Records store, and you can learn more about Bigsound’s latest lineup announcement, ticketing and scheduling at their official website.
