One more for the road: The Ocean Party to part ways after farewell EP and tour

Following the tragic passing of Zac Denton late last year, The Ocean Party have decided to part ways. In a statement released by the band, they said they would be releasing one last EP and heading out on a farewell tour before hanging up their instruments.

The EP, Nothing Grows, will be released later this year on March 14th. It is available for pre-order, and there will be limited vinyl pressings available. The collection of songs were written by the late Denton, which he recorded his vocals for following the band’s LP The Oddfellows’ Hall.

The Ocean Party will head off on one final tour and release their last EP as a salute to late band member Zac Denton, before calling it quits.

A statement released by Zac’s brother, friend and bandmate Lachlan Denton explained their reasoning behind closing the book on The Ocean Party:

“After our brother, friend and bandmate Zac Denton tragically passed away in late 2018, we felt that writing new material without him wouldn’t feel right and the time has come to call it quits.”

“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have been able to do this together for so long. This band has been such a big part of our lives for such a long time, that it’s going to feel really strange to end it… We’re going to all miss being a part of The Ocean Party and we really want to give it a proper send off.”

Following the EP release, the band will head off on their last ever tour, stopping in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Wombarra. Full dates and ticket info below.
