Incredible Sydney psych band Cull released their debut EP Bà nội (Vietnamese for ‘Grandmother’) earlier this year (and launched it at Goodgod). A couple of weeks ago, they uploaded their truly wonderful clip to The Sacred Burial Urn. Yesterday, I watched it. The song itself is beautiful and complex, and the video compliments it perfectly. Strange, surreal clips from what looks like a 60’s American space documentary are juxtaposed with neon yellow Vietnamese type, juxtaposed again with the music – modern Australian psychedelia that washes over the four minutes of visuals to create something special. Nice job, Cull. This is everything a vid clip should be. Best thing I’ve seen for at least 7 days!
