We’ve known for a while now that Sleater-Kinney were releasing a new album this year. We’ve also known that said album would be produced by none other than Annie Clark, better known by her stage name St. Vincent.
Well, finally, we have our first taste of what’s to come. Dropping both a new track and lyric video, their ninth album, The Center Won’t Hold, is officially on its way.
Sleater-Kinney have released the first single off their upcoming ninth album, and along with the lyric video, it’s all of us regretting a breakup.
The new track, Hurry On Home, is pretty much the perfect regretful breakup song. The lyric video is a representation of all of us Insta-stalking, before begging our ex to come back. Though maybe just a bit more unhinged than the usual “I miss you” text.
In an interview earlier this year, guitarist Carrie Brownstein said that the new album comes with a reimagining of their usual “tools”.
“If there is an overarching principle to this album, it’s that the tools on which we were relying proved inadequate. So we sought new ones, both metaphorically and literally.”
The single drop also comes in line with the announcement of a bumper 31-date North American tour. No tell on whether the Sleater-Kinney ladies will be heading down here any time soon. But until then, you can catch the track and the video below.
