Billie Eilish is an American pop singer-songwriter, who has achieved remarkable success on the back of her debut album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
Released in March 2019, it set Eilish on a course for international stardom. She was the breakout artist of the year. Astonishing, she achieved this level of success and recognition while still a teenager.
She first garnered attention when she released the track Ocean Eyes on Soundcloud in 2015. It became a viral smash, and more importantly, became the beginning of the musical partnership between herself and her brother, Finneas.
Though loosely bracketed in the pop genre, it's arguable that Billie Eilish has a sound completely unto her own. Whispered vocals that are at times layered in rich harmonies, extensive and imaginative use of ASMR and sound effects in her productions, not to mention ukulele, provide an intoxicating combination of influences and sounds.
With the incredible impact of her debut, people are understandably intrigued as to what will happen next for this unique pop star. It hardly seems feasible that she will retrace the same territory.
