In a suave and sultry cover, Jamiroquai reimagines David Bowie’s Let’s Dance complete with mentions of headaches, face masks, and diarrhoea.
The video was posted on Jamiroquai’s Instagram account, captioned “Only another three months to go.” It follows his brief cover of The Pointer Sisters’ I’m So Excited, reframed as Self-Isolation.
The lyrics are as follows:
“Lockdown/Put on your face mask and watch TV/Lockdown/To the sound of the kids all screaming at me/Lockdown/Trying to avoid the COVID-19/Lockdown/I’ve got a headache, a serious headache/And if you dry cough, I’ll run from you/A fever so high/With diarrhoea, you know this viral flu is trying to kill you too/If you should run under a bus it is because you’re bored.”
He’s amongst a horde of other musicians tackling the COVID-19 pandemic in diverse and unexpected ways, like hosting virtual beer pong and organising relief concerts.
