Novation is continuing their line of Ableton Live MIDI controllers with the release of the Launchpad X and Launchpad Mini. Both boast a sleeker, low-profile design and come with enhanced feature sets.
If you loved the original Mk2 Launchpads, this Mk3 duo is going to be right up your alley.
Launchpad X and Launchpad Mini are latest MIDI controllers from Novation. Marking 10 years since the arrival of the original, these two go a step above.
The Launchpad X is the new flagship model controller. With 64 velocity and pressure-sensitive RGB pads, Novation says are this is their most responsive controller yet. The most interesting feature would have to be the new Drum and Note Modes that let you switch automatically between playing percussive and melodic notes.
The Capture MIDI button allows you to retrieve what you’ve played while jamming, even if you haven’t pressed record. You can also use the Launchpad X in Mixer mode or use it to trigger clips inside of Ableton as the whole thing is pre-mapped straight out of the box.
The Launchpad Mini has a similar set up with a focus on optimised workflow. Easy access to Stop, Solo and Mute make it easy to record and perform in Ableton’s session view. Each model includes a copy of Ableton Live 10 Lite, a two-month subscription to Splice and collection of various plugins.
