PREMIERE: My Elephant Ride chart a cosmic romance with latest single Map of the Stars

Today, Melbourne outfit My Elephant Ride unleash yet another fruitful and romantic indie pop jam. Their new single Map of the Stars is the first taste from their sophomore album Beyond the Skin, due for release later this year.

On the record, ideas of love, gender, sexuality and faith will rise to the surface.

My Elephant Ride

Map Of The Stars by My Elephant Ride brews like a good cup of coffee; with bubbling romantic undertones sure to keep you warm any time of the year.

Map of the Stars is a journey in itself, exploring the themes of love and happiness along with the laborious search for these desires in uncharted territories.

With musical touchstones found in David Bowie, Mac Demarco, Elliott Smith, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard and The Murlocs, the cosmic and ethereal vibe of Map of the Stars serves as a timeless addition to the band’s catalogue.

From the opening seconds of the song, we’re struck with effortlessly clean and soothing vocals that weave a story in our head: “You stand on the edge causing trains tumbling to the sand. I need to know if you feel it when you hold the moon in your hand.”

When the Melbourne three-piece released their debut album Into The Jungle in late 2016, it was hailed for its smoky stylings.

Upcoming album Beyond the Skin was self-recorded in various locations between Bali and Melbourne. The four-piece also collaborated with Simon Lam (Kllo) to hone in on a more pop-oriented sound while honouring their individual styles.

My Elephant Ride have charted an incredible course with Map Of The Stars. It’s this power to take listeners along for a journey that leaves us so eager to get our hands on the upcoming album.
