Ahead of her concert this Friday night in New York City, pop culture icon Jane Birkin appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Taking to the stage, she was joined by none other than Iggy Pop, and the pair performed a heart-melting rendition of her 1969 duet with Serge Gainsbourg, Elisa.
In the performance, Birkin and Pop hold hands whilst they sing closely to each other. Birkin will appear this Friday night at the Beacon Theatre for a symphonic review, Songs of Serge Gainsbourg.
Two iconic figures of the late 20th century, Birkin and Gainsbourg are famous for their long romantic and working relationship from the late ’60s to the beginning of the ’80s. In 1969 the pair released their debut album, Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg, and in 1971 they had a child together, Charlotte. Gainsbourg passed away in 1991.
