Two giants of Aussie rock have spent the weekend songwriting side-by-side. Stoner gods Dune Rats and DZ Deathrays, Bundaberg’s thrash metal legends, have teamed up according to a post on the Dunies’ Facebook page.
Both bands are about to embark on their side by side International Disaster tour in October. Better to warm up the writing muscles now, before the stress of touring lays the band members down hard. Sharing a tour bus with DZ would be a sure party, and we don’t even want to think about what Dune Rats would cook up.
Dune Rats and DZ Deathrays are at the forefront of Aussie rock n’ roll right now. A collaboration between the two would send the country bonkers.
Check out what the Dunies posted below:
“HAVIN A CRACK AT WRITING CHUNES WIV OLD MATES DZ Deathrays TODAY!!!! #cockrock”
It’s about time. The lads from both acts have shared a longstanding friendship, and mutual admiration. In the early days, the two would try to one-up each other‘s music videos, and recent times have seen Dune Rats and DZ Deathrays sharing the stage more and more often.
Any combo of DZ’s pedal driven electro-metal with the Dune Rats’ more anthemic surf rock can’t go wrong. The two bands have been on fire since they cracked the scene, and a collab between the two would only fuel their success, rather than stifle it.
As far as knowing what cock rock is, your guess is as good as ours, but we get the feeling Tenacious D would approve.
