Nicki Minaj ‘Super Freaky Girl’ makes Spotify history

Nicki Minaj has made Spotify history over the weekend with her Rick James-inspired single, Super Freaky Girl

Nicki Minaj continues her reign as rap royalty, making history with the release of her brand new single, Super Freaky Girl. Following the track’s launch on Saturday (August 13), Nicki earned the largest solo debut for a female rap song in Spotify history.

According to Chart Data, the track garnered more than three million first-day streams and also became the top new entry on the Spotify Global Chart, debuting at No. 13.

Along with Nicki Minaj’s record-breaking Spotify debut, Super Freaky Girl also took out the iTunes No. 1 spot on the U.S. and Canada charts, and entered the Top 100 in several other countries including Mexico, the U.K., and Australia.

Following the release, Nicki Minaj teased a surprise for fans, Tweeting: “If the Barbz are good they’ll get another surprise. #SuperFreakyGirl trend it if you want it…”

Spotify has an impressive lineup for most streams of all time, announcing on May 6, that Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti became the all-time most-streamed artist globally on its platform in a single day (a title previously held by Drake), racking up 183 million Spotify streams within 24 hours.

Harry Styles is more than his own, with his single, As it was garnering 16,103,849 streams in its first 24 hours on Spotify in April of this year. As of now, it has over a billion plays.
